Tragedy struck Vista Ridge High School in Cedar Park, Texas, when student Myles Hutcheson passed away early this week. 17-year-old Hutcheson was killed in a crash on Monday.
A high school junior, Hutcheson was a member of the Vista Ridge Rangers' varsity basketball team.
The Rangers were set to play district rival McNeil on Tuesday, but both coaches agreed to push the game to Wednesday.
The support from the entire basketball community of Leander was overwhelming.
Special t-shirts were made for those who attended the game, “With his number, and Myles' name is on the back,” Cedar Park guard Jacob Hester told KVUE.
A moment of silence was also recognized before the start of the game, with players, coaches, fans and family alike taking 24 seconds — Hutcheson’s jersey number — to honor Hutcheson.
As Leander Rouse guard Austin Barnes told KVUE, Wednesday’s game showed “just that it goes a lot further than basketball.”
