2019 VYPE Lacrosse Preview: Houston's top girls teams, players to watch

Kinkaid starts the season as our #1 team.

  1. Kinkaid Falcons

  2. The Woodlands Highlanders

  3. St. John’s Mavs

  4. Lamar Texans

  5. Kingwood Mustangs

The rich get richer. Houston’s girls’ lacrosse has been dominated by St. John’s, but there are a few other programs who are getting some state shine.

The Mavs have filled their trophy case with state trophies over the past few decades, but Kinkaid has it rolling right now. The Falcons reached the state finals last season and are VYPE’s No. 1.

Returners for Kinkaid include Chloe Hunter (Penn), Mikela McCauley (Dartmouth), Gabriella Fuller, Nakeeya McCardell and Lila Griggs.Regan Arkless (UC-Davis)

The upstart Highlanders of The Woodlands are trending of late with returners Shaelin Murphy (Fairfield), Clare Finney (Catholic University) and Madeleine Saucier.

The Woodlands could contend for another state appearance.

St. John’s is loaded again with Caroline Pressler, Andie Kapiloff (Swarthmore) and Alex Lewis back in the fold, while Charlotte Dale (Detroit Mercy), Sophie Chong-Ahmed (Central Michigan), Caleigh Wilbourn (Stony Brook) and Kaelin Issacson run the show for Lamar.
