ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: Iademarco breaks Rice women's hoops all-time 3-point record

HOUSTON - Nicole Iademarco has always been known for her accuracy beyond the arch.

Iademarco left The Woodlands High School as the all-time leader in three-pointers made with 117 in her career. Seventy of those came during her senior campaign for the Highlanders in 2014.

She carried that hot shooting hand down I-45 to Rice University, where on Thursday night the senior etched her name into Rice Owls history.

With a three-pointer in the second quarter against UTSA, Iademarco became the all-time leader in three-pointers made in Rice Owls history. Iademarco entered the game with 162 three-pointers made in her career. Finishing the night 4 of 5 from beyond the arch put her at 166 and broke the previous record of 164 set byMaya Hawkins.

"She has made a mark on this program that goes way beyond the record books," Rice Owls womens' basketball coach Tina Langley tweeted out after the game. "So proud of you Nicole!"

Iademarco finished the game 9 of 13 for 23 points, putting her just 22 points shy of the 1,000-point mark in her Rice Owls career.

The former The Woodlands star could hit that mark on Saturday when the Owls welcome UTEP into Tudor Fieldhouse. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m.
