It is officially gameday in the Alamo City for a trio of Houston-area teams that will try and punch their ticket to the championship games on Saturday.
Yates, Klein Forest and North Shore will all play in semifinals today inside the Alamodome.
The Lions are 27-4 and will face 34-6 Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy, the Mustangs are 33-3 and face 30-7 Duncanville and the Golden Ealges are 32-3 and will face Cibolo Steele, which sits at 30-8.
Here are a few players to watch today in these state semifinals.
Antwon Norman – The Yates junior is coming off an impressive showing in the Region III-4A Final against Silsbee. Norman scored 30 points, 18 of which came in the first quarter. Norman will be one to watch in the state semifinal today.
North Shore Mustangs
Keiman Capers – The North Shore senior has been a key piece to their success this season. Capers’ older brother was a part of the last state championship at North Shore in 2014. Now, little brother will try and bring back another ship to the east side. This season Capers is averaging 10.7 points and six rebounds per game.
Bruce Scott – This is another senior that has stepped up big for the Mustangs this season. Scott is averaging 9.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
Klein Forest Golden Eagles
Calvin Solomon has had a breakout year for Klein Forest to help lead the Golden Eagles to the State Tournament. Another key player has been Kharee McDaniel, who has held down the point for Klein Forest.
