Cy Falls senior RB Koby Leavatts is ready for a huge season

Koby Leavatts is arguably the best running back in District 17-6A.

Leavatts finished the regular season second in rushing yards behind Cy Fair’s Trenton Kennedy, and helped lead Cy Falls to the playoffs.

At 5-foot-10, 200-pounds, Leavatts plays bigger than his listed size indicates with his bruising and physical run-in-between-the-tackles style and his ability to fall forward and finish runs.

Leavatts also has the speed, agility and elusiveness to go for six anytime the Eagles hand the ball to him.

“I want to continue to prove next season that I am truly the best back in the district,” Leavatts said. “My goal is to attain 1200 yards and lead my team to the state title.”

Leavatts was a breakout star in 17-6A, nevertheless he is hungry to become the undisputed best running back amongst his district peers and win immediately.

This motivation and will to win should be the fuel behind the ride that will be the Eagles 2018-2019 season and Leavatts senior year.

“This year I need to improve my verbal leadership and just overall leadership of the offense when times get tough,” he said.

If Leavatts can lead his squad through times of distress then the Eagles should be a grueling team to stop.

“I think the best part of our team is the offensive line,” Leavatts said when describing the strengths and weaknesses of his team.

Last year the offensive line for the Eagles was talented but inexperienced. This lead to a few mishaps and penalties here and there.

This year’s version has been revamped and is lead by returning tackle Landon Leger and center Drake Herbert.

With this new and improved mauling o-line, Leavatts is in line for one of the best seasons by a Falls tailback ever.

With returning three-year starting quarterback TJ Goodwin and playmaking wideout Jyrese Hanchett all along side Leavatts for this upcoming season, the Eagles’ offense should be one of the best in the district and should also have a decent shot at a deep playoff run this winter.
