Over the weekend, SPC's top boys lacrosse teams battled for the league crown at Austin St. Andrew's. The Episcopal School of Dallas played like the North Zone's top team, and rolled to its fifth straight title.
The Eagles kicked off the tournament with a 22-1 win against South No. 4 Bellaire Episcopal, and wrapped up the run with a 10-2 decision against North No. 2 Dallas St. Mark's.
South No. 2 Kinkaid gave them the biggest challenge in the 13-8 semifinal match. Even with the loss, the Falcons didn't go home empty-handed. They beat Addison Greenhill 9-5 in the opening round, and upset South No. 1 St. John's 14-7 in the third-place game.
St. John's fourth-place finish was surprising, considering it entered the tournament on a 13-game win streak, and dominated opening-round foe Austin St. Stephen's 19-1.
Episcopal was the other VYPE-area team to qualify for the event. The Knights fell to Greenhill 13-5 in the consolation semis, but bounced back with a 16-6 win against St. Stephen's in the seventh-place game.
