When the boys representing the red, white and blue run onto the field and take the mound in Panama this week, Houston will be represented.

Fort Bend Travis' Sammy Faltine (Texas-signee) and The Woodlands' Drew Romo (LSU-commit) will be on the team.

"It means the world to represent everyone back home and my country and everyone who has given the ultimate sacrifice for our country and to know that all my hard work payed off is a great feeling," Faltine said. "And to know I’m playing for the greatest country in the world and to be able to wear USA across my chest is a dream come true and something I will forever cherish in my life."

Faltine and Romo departed for Santiago, Panama along with their 18 other teammates on the 20-man roster to compete in the 2018 COPABE U-18 Pan-American Championships. Play begins on November 23.

"I’m extremely excited to go over there and show the world how America plays and how good we are," Faltine said.

The duo were two of five players chosen from Texas.

Romo was a part of The Woodlands team that reached the UIL Class 6A State Semifinals last season. In 40 games, Romo batted .317 with 26 RBIs, three home runs, eight doubles and two triples.

"It’s a great honor to be able to represent our country and compete against other nations with USA across my chest," Romo said.
