Being a part of the Foster varsity volleyball team the last four years has left me with a lifetime of memories.
My freshman year we came in second in district and my sophomore year we tied for the district title.
Both years we made it to second round of the playoffs.
Those two years gave me a lot of opportunity to work on my physical and mental game.
Coming in as a freshman, my mental game needed to be developed.
Early in your career, you need to be mentally strong because you’re playing with girls who are older, more experienced and physically stronger. Coach Hunter and the upperclassmen on my team helped me get mentally stronger on and off the court.
The book, “The Mental Game of Volleyball” played a huge role in my progress, which started to shine during my junior and senior years.
We made it to playoffs again my junior year and we won our district title outright.
But...we experienced another disappointing loss in the second round of the playoffs. It was time for a change.
We needed to do something different to get a different result. We did team lessons on our own during the summer to work on some things before the season, and we had our strength and conditioning camp as well.
Since the beginning of the season, all the other seniors and I took on leadership roles.
As a senior, you want your last year to be the best. You try to strive to accomplish as many things as you can.
We wanted to go the distance this last season and leave an ever-lasting impression on our program.
Accomplishing all of this my senior year, made it the best!
I am ready and cannot wait for the next phase in my volleyball career at Sam Houston.
