Lyn’dale Myers, senior, has been one of the most underrated defensive backs in the Northwest region. HIs team, the Cypress Creek Cougars is one of the most underrated teams left in the playoffs.
But the Cougars defense is a big reason they are in the fourth round.
“To be this far in the playoffs is amazing and it feels like all the hard work payed off,” Lyn’dale Myers said.
But for their road to continue, this Cypress Creek defense has to stop a West Brook offense this Saturday at NRG Stadium that has been explosive this post-season. West Brook in its last three games has scored 56, 54, and 49 points to advance to the fourth round.
“It is also a honor to make it the furthest in the playoffs in Cy Creek football history,” Myers said. “We have broken down film from every game and our scout team have gave us a good look in practice.”
Myers has made a name for himself this season in the secondary.
He leads District 17-6A in pass deflections with his tight man coverage making it hard for receivers to come down with the football. He had a couple of them last week against Summer Creek.
The most points this Cougars team has allowed all post-season has been 14 points twice to Summer Creek and Katy Taylor.
“I am proud how we battled through adversity being 0-4 and have won eight of our last nine games,” Myers said. “We just kept believing and it’s started to click. Also the coaches are awesome and keep us very disciplined.”
