For many DFW girls basketball teams, this last week features just one game on the schedule with little to no importance to their district standings and where they will be slotted in the UIL playoffs.
The playoff field is basically set and area juggernauts continue to plug away and take down the competition that is in front of them. But like the boys rankings, there is a little shakeup at the top and bottom of this week’s iteration of the Top 10.
Like the boys Top 10, the switch at the top has less to do with the previous No. 1’s output as it has to do with the new No. 1’s performance last week. Cedar Hill beat a 20-win team in Mansfield Summit and a near-.500 team in Lake Ridge, Timberview, which owns a 24-game win streak and has only lost to Cedar Hill by one on the road, beat another state-ranked team in Crowley pretty handily and also defeated a 19-win Centennial team.
Another swap comes to us by Duncanville moving into the No. 3 slot. This is largely due to the fact that Duncanville won impressively last week by holding both of its opponents to 16 points. Total. Combined. One team scored 10, the other scored six. And in four of its last five outings, Duncanville has allowed a total of just 29 total points.
Royse City enters the Top 10 after topping Lindale and Greenville last week and seeing Hebron fall to Lewisville on Friday night and going 0-2 for the week.
