Stock Rising: Five players whose recruiting buzz is on rise since state title game appearances

There is nothing like shining on the biggest stage in Texas.

That’s what players for North Shore, Shadow Creek and Fort Bend Marshall did when their teams advanced to AT&T Stadium for the state championships.

Since then – North Shore winning the Class 6A Division I title – key players on all three teams have seen their recruiting stock rise and the offers roll in recently as college coaches are on the road recruiting hard right now.

Here are five players that have seen their stock skyrocket since their teams’ state appearance and this fall.

North Shore – Shadrach Banks

Shadrach Banks had one of the biggest breakout seasons by a wide receiver in the City of Houston. More than 1,300 yards receiving and the ridiculous numbers, speed and strength he showed off in the playoffs caught a lot of people’s attention.

Banks had nine catches for 179 yards and two touchdowns in the state title game.

The sophomore’s stock has risen throughout the season. In September, Texas and SMU offered. In October, Florida and LSU joined the party.

In December, Ohio State, Georgia, Oklahoma and Virginia Tech. In January, offers from Illinois and Michigan have rolled in as well. His stock will continue to skyrocket as he has two more seasons of high school football left.

Shadow Creek – Alec Bryant

This guy is the next big-time defensive end that will come out of Houston.

Bryant already had a lot of interest around him coming into this season – including from Oklahoma, TCU, SMU, University of Houston and Arizona.

After this season he had, this fall and into the new year Bryant’s received offers from LSU, Texas Tech, Colorado, Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech.

Fort Bend Marshall – Devon Achane

Since an offer from Ole Miss on November 10 and Tulane on November 17, Devon Achane’s recruiting had slowed down.

When the playoffs hit and Achane put on the show he did the offers started rolling in.

The week of the State Championships, Achane received an offer from Texas A&M. Since then, Florida State, University of Houston, LSU and Kansas have come in to offer the stellar athlete from MBlock.

Shadow Creek – Xavion Alford

The last two months have been busy for Xavion Alford.

Along with being a part of an absolute historic team – Shadow Creek going 15-1 in its inaugural season – the recruiting path has been busy for Alford.

In December and January, Alford has picked up offers from TCU, LSU, Indiana, Purdue, Kansas, SMU, Virginia Tech, Texas Tech and Nebraska. Alford has also been invited to Nike’s The Opening in March.

North Shore – Dematrius Davis

There was hype around Dematrius Davis before he even arrived on campus at North Shore High School. He has lived up to it.

Being named the Class 6A State Championship game MVP – passing for 333 yards and 5 TDs – will help with that.

Since the title game, offers from William & Mary, Temple, Texas State, Southern Miss and LSU have rolled in.
