Six-Pack of Houston-area can't-miss NFL prospects

CE King's Trayveon Williams

Football is a year-round sport.

Sure, the NFL playoffs are in full-swing, but we are a society that loves to look to the future.

The NFL Draft is still months away, but it’s fun to project who will have their names called this year and next.

Here is a six-pack of Houston high school heroes who have positioned themselves at the college level to have successful NFL careers.

Here are the names you need to know.

  • Ed Oliver of UH
  • Paddy Fisher of Katy
  • Kendall Sheffield of FB Marshall and Ohio State
  • Walker Little

2019 NFL DRAFT

Ed Oliver, Westfield, DT, Houston

No doubt Oliver will carry the flag for the city of Houston on Draft Day this Spring from Westfield. He projects anywhere from No. 5 to No. 15. Still has Pro Day and NFL Combine to go, so anything can happen. Great leverage and strength. This draft is loaded with defensive studs, will his stock hold over the next few months?

...

Hakeem Butler, Fort Bend Travis, WR, Iowa State

Played at Travis his senior year after he moved in with his aunt and uncle. He was from Baltimore, but moved after his mom died of cancer. This dude is HUGE, physical and a great athlete. He’s also projecting in the Top 40 picks. Also hooped with the Harrison twins at Travis.

...

Trayveon Williams, CE King, RB, Texas A&M

Can’t believe this guy is eligible for the draft already? Time flies. Great kid, who is explosive. Break away speed with power. Can catch out of the backfield. I can’t remember anyone from CE King playing professional sports, so he’s Sheldon ISD’s all-time Big Man on Campus. He projects between Rounds 2-4.

...

Kendall Sheffield, FB Marshall, DB, Ohio State

Sheff’s calling-card is speed. He was one of the fastest kids in the country back in the day at FB Marshall. Signed with Bama and played some. Transferred to Ohio State and started. He can run with any receiver and has NFL size. Projects in the Rounds 4-7.

NFL DRAFT 2020

Walker Little, Episcopal, OL, Stanford

This is a can’t-miss FIRST ROUNDER in 2020. At 6-foot-7, the area’s top recruit two years ago has lived up to the hype at Stanford. Plays in pro-style offense, so he will be NFL-ready. Will be a tackle for a decade in the league.

...

Paddy Fisher, Katy, LB, Northwestern

At 6-foot-4, 245-pounds, Fisher has the tools to be a late First-Rounder in 2020. He’s a hard-nosed LB who can run. Very physical and has become the face of Northwestern football. Who would have thought, a kid from Katy, Texas?
