The Eve of #NSD'19: Where Houston's Hot 100 have signed

Kenyon Green is VYPE's No. 1 for 2019.

Another year in the books and another bumper crop of national prospects coming out of Houston.

The Texas A&M Aggies signed five of VYPE's Top 10 prospects of 2019, while Oklahoma welcomes two. This Top 10 is tremendously decorated. Kenyon Green could be considered the state's No. 1 recruit, Grant Gunnell is the all-time leading passer in Texas High School football history and one of Katy's most dominant running backs all complete their high school careers.

It will be interesting to see how these 10 translate to the college game and how quickly. They have left their legacy in Houston, so let's see where their paths take them from here.

Here is the Complete Hot 100 for 2019.

VYPE Hot 100

No. 1-10

No. 1 Kenyon Green, Atascocita, OL, Texas A&M

Huge, physical and has played against some of the best talent in the state. Could be an immediate impact player at Texas A&M as Jimbo got his man. Good strength and flexibility.

No. 2 Grant Gunnell, St. Pius X, QB, Arizona

Because he signed with Arizona, his stock dropped. The dude threw for more yards than anyone in the history of Texas high school football. He’s 6-foot-6-plus. He’s pretty athletic and will start at Arizona next season. Gunnell has been slept on the past eight months, let’s see if he makes everyone pay.

No. 3 Tyler Johnson, Oak Ridge, OL, Texas

Will be another impact player on the line for a few years. Could be a three-and-out guy. Great size, great athleticism. Willing to work. The prize recruit for Texas from H-Town.

No. 4 Braedon Mowry, Katy Taylor, DE, Texas A&M

Not a huge fan early of Mowry, until I saw him in person. Guy gets after it. At 6-foot-4, he’s a problem for OCs. The all-state selection can run and doesn’t take any plays off. Will team with Demarvin Leal in the new Wreckin’ Crew defense.

No. 5 Erick Young, FB Bush, DB, Texas A&M

First-teamer in district. Could play CB or safety in college. Great size and athleticism. Has what coaches call “some dog in him”. You want him on your team. Physical big corners are hard to find.

No. 6 Deondrick Glass, Katy, RB, Oklahoma State

Has rushed for over 6,100 yards and 100 TDs at Katy. Good size. Would be great in the Big 12 with more open spaces. Been a little banged up while at Katy, but is out of the game early in the second half because the Tigers are usually blowing teams out. Was offered by Florida State as a freshman.

No. 7 Marcus Stripling, Mayde Creek, DE, Oklahoma

Best prospect to come out of Mayde Creek… maybe ever. Big LB/DE who can run. Will have some upside. The question is where does he play? Will move inside if he gains weight.

No. 8 Jalen Wydermyer, Dickinson, TE, Texas A&M

Aggies used the tight end a ton this season. Wydermyer could be the next installment. He’s big at 6-foot-5 and crazy athletic as a basketball player. Tons of high-major offers but stays close to home Texas A&M.

No. 9 Isaiah Spiller, Klein Collins, RB, Texas A&M

Father played for Aggies. Early commit to OU. Aggies won out. Tall back who understands how to use his pad-level. Was the district Offensive MVP with 1,500 yards rushing.

No. 10 Kori Roberson, Manvel, DE, Oklahoma

I like this guy. Good motor and will be an inside defense at 6-foot-4, 285-pounds already. Can dominate a game and get down the line of scrimmage. He’s gonna be a beast at OU. They need defense.
