VYPE: How long have you been running xc and how did you get your start?
A: I have been running since 7th grade, so about 3 years. I got my start in club track with Coach Carnel and Dynamos Soccer since U11.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about running?
A: The feeling and thrill it gives me during and after races/workouts.
VYPE: In your opinion, what is the most important skill set for a good long distance runner?
A: The most important skill a long distance runner can have is being mentally strong and having a good mindset. Running is almost all mental, so if you don’t have a positive attitude and the drive to do it, its hard to succeed.
VYPE: What is your pre-race routine? Pre-race meal?
A: For my pre-race routine I first run with my team, then I do drills, stretch, rollout, and keep my muscles warm. My favorite pre-race meal is probably whole grain toast with peanut butter, a little bit of eggs, and either a hydrator or smoothie.
VYPE: Favorite subject in school?
A: When I get older I hope to be in the medical industry, so right now biology is my favorite subject .
VYPE: Off the course, what is your favorite thing to do?
A: I love to hang out with friends and family, go to the movies, play soccer, and cook.
VYPE: When you get ready for a race, what is the last thing going through your mind?
A: Because I’m focusing on myself and trying to get myself mentally prepared, the last thing going through my mind is how other individuals or teams are going to do.
VYPE: If you could go pro in any sport besides running, what would it be?
A: I would go pro in soccer because I have been playing for many years and it is one of my favorite sports!
VYPE: What is one moment from your running career so far that you’ll remember forever?
A: Making it to the state meet freshman year with my amazing team and Coach Kennedy!!!!
