MacArthur’s Xaviera (Xavi) Urrabazo is looking for a three-peat. The senior golfer has won back-to-back District 16-6A titles and is looking for a third in early April.
As a freshman, Urrabazo also played hoops and volleyball, but has focused on her passion of golf.
“Her dad is a golfer, so I think he was pretty excited to see her take an interest in the game,” MacArthur coach Catherine Roach said. “She’s such a hard worker and has taken numerous lessons from pros. She is at the point that when she makes an error, she knows what she did wrong and can correct it.”
The smooth-swinging lefty is also a great student, working on improving her SAT scores. She will be visiting Elmhurst College in Illinois in the spring to play golf.
Urrabazo recently won the Oak Ridge Invitational in February as she continues to build her high school resume.
“She is very coachable and willing to put in the time and effort to get better,” Roach said. “She’s working tirelessly on her short game, which has reflected in her scores.”
Scary thought for her district-mates.
