The Spring Lions are hot.
Under the direction of Michael Prejean, Spring has run up a 13-0 district record this season – a district that has been dominated by Dekaney for years.
The Lions are all back from injury and hitting their stride entering the playoffs.
Led by five seniors, Prejean has a nucleus of experienced athletes looking to make a run in the postseason.
“What we do, travels,” coach Prejean, who has been the head coach at Spring for five years. “We play great defense. If we continue to do so, we will have a shot against anyone.”
Seniors Kaitlyn Davis, Haley Wesley, Taylor Lowe and Jayda Kmiec provide the senior leadership, while Rayn Balli and Kyndal Ayro are talented sophomores.
“We were up and down during the non-district season,” he said. “We had three kids out with injury, but that’s water under the bridge. We have played well since the Christmas break and haven’t even had a bad practice. This is a fun and physical group to coach. It’s been a blast.
“Our seniors are awesome,” he said. “We don’t have to worry about the locker room – our seniors take care of everything.”
The Lions will face the fourth seed of District 15-6A, which is still undetermined.
