There was a time that the thought of Nederland advancing to the basketball playoffs was almost unheard of. From 1993 to 2008 the Bulldogs failed to advance past the regular season, since then Brian English's team has not missed the playoffs. With only one returning starter, there might have been some slight concern that the streak would end, but that's not the case. Big Ned is rolling at (18-8) overall and more importantly (4-0) in District 21-5A.
Nederland is led by Hayden Hefner, a junior point guard that has received offers from Houston, Oklahoma and Texas A&M. Bryce McMorris and Blaine Burnett also provide experience from last year, with Joey Hebert and Joseph Gipson ready to step up. The Bulldogs have all the tools for another postseason appearance, but must rebound and defend better to have a truly special run. Last year Humble took out Nederland in the opening round, 45-44. A Bi-District loss this time around would be a surprise.
