FORT BEND CHRISTIAN ACADEMY EAGLES
Fort Bend Christian is in the midst of an unprecedented run. With a 10-0 victory against Fort Worth Christian last May, the Eagles finished off yet another TAPPS State Softball Division II Championship run – the third-straight title for the program. What is even more impressive than that is in the last 11 seasons, Fort Bend Christian has won seven softball state titles – 2007, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018. “Kids come and go but they’ve created a culture and a level of expectations set for the new kids coming in,” coach Kelly Carol said. “They just fall into place and it keeps going.” Carol has a loaded team again led by pitcher “SJ” Geurin (Oklahoma), Riley Cargile, Jackie Jessup (HBU), Stacey Hine and Natalie Owens.
The Episcopal Knights were the SPC champs in 2018, running through the bracket in dominating fashion. The Knights outscored their opponents 22-5 over championship weekend. So now what? Five stars return for Episcopal, including two all-SPC players. Amber Hatfield and Lexi Sagers are the team’s headliners. They set the tone after solid 2018 campaigns. Senior Rachel Boeker will provide leadership, while Ka’Lyn Watson and LeAnn Dromgoole are ready for breakout seasons. The Knights will be the favorites again in the SPC, while Kinkad will try and knock them off.
THE WOODLANDS CHRISTIAN ACADEMY WARRIORS
The Warriors are ready to do damage in TAPPS Division III with some salty returners. TWCA reached the state semis a year ago and have title aspirations in 2019. On the mound will be Faith Hanshaw, who was an all-tournament and all-state selection. Second baseman Gracie Graham, third baseman Mariska Coelho and outfielder Reagan Robichaux also picked up second-team, all-state nods a year ago. Led by coach Richard Perez, the Warriors will play a competitive preseason slate to get them prepared for a run that slipped through their gloves in 2018.
