What a Finish!
Welcome to 2019 and well what a way to say goodbye to 2018!
In the January edition of VYPE Houston Magazine we put a bow on the 2018 Texas high school football season, which brought us one of the greatest finishes to a state championship game ever.
If you were living under a rock on December 22, North Shore won its third state championship on a 45-yard Hail Mary touchdown pass from Dematrius Davis to AJ Carter with no time left.
The win and 16-0 run by North Shore made us think, is this the greatest Houston-area team to ever be assembled?
North Shore made its case and Angel Verdejo Jr. breaks it down in this edition.
Be sure to check out the full Football State Championship Wrap-Up section with photos from all three title games, stories on Shadow Creek and Fort Bend Marshall and more.
It's also soccer season!
VYPE gathered some of the best soccer players across the city at Houston ISD's Delmar Fieldhouse and also Cinco Ranch High School for our annual photo shoot.
Check out the awesome photos, VYPE's teams to watch and great stories on defending state champions Alief Elsik (6A Boys) and Houston Memorial (6A Girls). Also included is a story on former Cinco Ranch star Ali Russell, who elected to forgo her senior year and enroll early at Texas A&M.
Also check out the All-VYPE Football teams, Public and Private, along with our superlative awards for the year.
Finally, it's lacrosse season in Houston and Matt Malatesta breaks down the top programs to watch on the boys and girls side and how The Woodlands boys put H-Town back on the map last season.
This is a must-get issue! The VYPE Houston January edition hits newsstands later this week.
