District 12-5A-I (playoff scenario confirmed by Travis Bush of Seguin):
Austin LBJ (5-1) @ Seguin (6-0)
Dripping Springs (5-1) @ Austin Crockett (3-3) (Thursday)
Seguin will get a single chance to cap its dream turnaround season with a district title. It MUST beat LBJ to get it. A loss eliminates it from district championship contention. LBJ is playing this season in memory of its coach who died of cancer right after last season. LBJ can win the district title with a win and if Dripping Springs loses on Thursday.
If Dripping Springs wins and Seguin loses -- the Tigers are the champions. In that scenario, Seguin could still be the No. 2 and get a home playoff game if it loses by less than nine points.
Because Dripping Springs plays on Thursday, the others will know the scenario. Crockett has a lot to play for because a loss on Thursday night eliminates it from playoff contention.
Veterans Memorial (6-1) @ Sam Houston (5-2)
Highlands (2-5) vs. Brackenridge (4-3) (Thursday)
Burbank (4-3) vs. Lanier (1-6)
Wagner gets a week off after winning its first ever district title. But there is still some to do in the district. If Veterans Memorial beats Sam Houston, not only will JISD complete a 14-0 sweep of SAISD, the Patriots will clinch a home playoff game in their first season.
They would also set the record for most wins by an SA area rookie school at seven (Harlan could also match).
Brackenridge clinches a playoff spot with a win on Thursday. If it loses, that opens the door for Burbank to win and take that spot.
Harlan (3-2) @ Laredo Martin (4-1) (Thursday)
Eagle Pass Winn (3-2) @ Southwest (5-0)
Harlandale (2-3) vs. McCollum (1-4)
Southwest has locked up the district title, but can still influence who goes. As mentioned above, Harlan is in and could be the first rookie school to win seven games in its inaugural season.
If Harland wins and Winn loses, or the Hawks win by enough points, it gets a home playoff game.
Martin is in and if it wins, it gets a home playoff game.
Last year’s Frontier Bowl matched 0-9 teams. This year, Harlandale can get into the playoffs, but must win and have Winn lose.
Medina Valley (5-1) @ Kerrville Tivy (6-0)
Boerne Champion (4-2) @ Alamo Heights (5-1)
These teams are all in already. Tivy wins the district with a win, but a loss eliminates it. Medina Valley must win and have the Mules lose. The Mules clinch with a win and a Tivy loss. The Chargers can still get a home playoff game, but have to win by enough points and have the Panthers lose. But can any of these teams beat Calallen in the playoffs?
Floresville (2-4) @ Southside (4-2)
Corpus Christi Tuloso-Midway (0-6) @ Somerset (3-3)
Alice (2-4) @ Gregory-Portland (2-4)
This district is a complete mess. Calallen and Calhoun will play for the district title, but if Calhoun loses and Southside wins, the Cardinals get a home playoff game.
Somerset clinches a playoff spot with a win or a Floresville loss. Floresville clinches with a win, a Somerset loss and if Gregory-Portland beats Alice. If none of those happen, points will decide the last spot.
